  Hilo, the city and district (also the name of a famous Polynesian navigator and of the first night of the new moon), perhaps mentioned in chant and saying more than any other single place in the Hawaiian Islands: see 'A'ala honua, hālau1, holowa'a1, ka'ele1, kinai2, laumeke, 'ōiwi2, po'i1, umauma, rain, storm, UL 104. All of these refer to rain and its rich symbolism. Lehua blossoms and Chief Hanakahi are also associated with Hilo.
